The lost art

As my profile indicates, I'm only interested in men; therefore, all the profiles I see on this site are from men. So I'm always curious to know why there are status updates or profiles that talk about "time wasters" and being "jerked around".

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that don't have any intention of ever meeting face-to-face. I have been online long enough to know that the anonymity of the internet can be a very seductive thing. I have been thinking though, there might be another factor at play here.

I get my fair share of email *grin* and I see the typical copy+paste messages, but every now and then I get a message that intrigues me enough to respond in the hopes of a possible conversation. I can't speak for all women but when deciding who I will engage with on this site and possibly meet up for drinks or a meal it all boils down to one thing - conversation. If I can't speak with you online or over the phone for a reasonable amount of time then there's little to no chance of meeting up for anything physical to happen.

I might be old-fashioned or perhaps its my profession but if I can't have an interesting conversation (minus awkward and lengthy silence) then it's probably not going to work for either of us. I suppose I might be considered one of these women who waste men's time? Hummm...???

You are right about the conversation and interest being nice to have. It is more fun than poke and run stuff.
If those emails are funny, you should post them on the blog. Some female bloggers get some very funny one.

I think my favourite thing to see when someone does the copy+paste message is when I get multiple messages from the same person and they are exactly the same!! LOL

 That's why I usually do the coffee meet thingy. If things aren't going well (i.e.- zero chemistry) I can bail after one cup, but if things are going well... then ordering up two cups for us.

I agree with doing just coffee (or any beverage since I don't drink it! LOL... ) - less pressure when initially meeting is a good thing!!
